Srinagar, Apr 06 (KNO): Three more people were tested positive for novel Coronavirus on Monday in Kashmir taking the total number of positive cases across J&K UT to 109. The J&K administration has also traced about 24000 suspects in the past one week across the UT whose samples would be taken for tests. Government spokesman, Rohit Kansal in a tweet said that three more cases were detected in Kashmir division today, taking the toll of positive cases to 109 across J&K UT including two deaths and four patients who recovered fully. Officials told wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that among the three new positive patients, one is from Uri area of Baramulla while as two are from Chattabal and Nowshera areas of Srinagar. "#JammuAndKashmir Status Update - Total Cases 109; Active Cases 103 - 85 In Kashmir division, 18 in Jammu; 3 new cases so far- all in Kashmir; Hope no further increases today," Kansal tweeted. Officials said that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division has reached to 88 including two deaths and one recovery while as in Jammu division the total number of positive patients stands at 21 including three recoveries. "All 18 active positive patients are undergoing treatment at Government Medical college Jammu while as in Kashmir division among 85 active positive patients, 26 are undergoing treatment at SKIMS, 01 at JVC Bemina, 21 CD hospital Srinagar, 09 at JLNM hospital Srinagar, 19 at GMC Baramulla and 09 at district hospital Pulwama", officials added. An official disclosed to—KNO that at least 23,599 suspected persons were traced during past seven days and all of them have been put under observation in order to contain the pandemic. A senior official of health department said that till March 30, evening there were only 11,644 persons were under surveillance. However, he said, that in just one week the number of persons under surveillance has gone up three times. “At present, the total number of persons under surveillance is 35,243,” he said. Nodal officer for Coronavirus at SKIMS Dr G H Yatoo told KNO that today, reports of two patients from Chattabal and Nowshera came positive and samples of 29 more suspected patients were taken and sent for reports. He said samples of four positive patients who had been recovering well were also taken and have been sent for reports. Deputy Medical superintendent of JLNM hospital Srinagar Dr Tabasum said that nine patients are undergoing treatment at JLNM hospital and all have been responding well. She said that three children, who had tested positive for Covid-19, are undergoing treatment at the JLNM hospital from last many days have been recovering well and their samples were also taken today and sent for reports to check whether they are still positive. Dr Naveed Ahmad Shah, Head of department Chest Disease hospital said that 21 patients are undergoing treatment at the hospital and repeated tests of seven positive patients have turned negative. Dr Jameel Ahmad Mir, Medical Superintendent District hospital Pulwama said that nine positive patients are undergoing treatment at the hospital and today samples of 44 covid-99 suspected patients were taken and sent for reports. As per the daily information bulletin 35,243 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 10,556 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 103 persons are in hospital isolation while as 615 persons are under hospital quarantine. According to the bulletin, 6,463 persons have completed surveillance period and 17,506 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far 1,708 number of samples have been collected for test of covid-19. Out of 1,708, the number of samples tested negative stands at 1583 while as 109 have been tested positive among them four including three from Jammu division and one from Kashmir division have recovered and two positive patients from Kashmir division have died, besides that reports of 16 samples are yet to come—(KNO)
